[lang=en]iPhone 5 is the speculative name for the fifth generation iPhone, a line of Internet and multimedia-enabled smartphones designed and marketed by Apple Inc.

The next generation iPhone is speculated to be outfitted with near field communication technology. NFC suppliers are preparing for the additional NFC traffic the iPhone 5 would bring. CDMA and GSM technologies are expected to be utilized and some expect both CDMA and GSM capability to be integrated on all models. An aluminum back with tapered edges similar to one used on the iPad 2 could be used. A variant of the A5 processor similar to the iPad 2 processor and an improved graphics engine is expected to be used.
The iPhone 5 is expected to be fitted with an 8 MP camera. The rear camera and flash device would be located further apart.
The China Times claimed that initial production of the iPhone 5 has begun as of March and would launch in the third quarter of 2011. Many believe that the iPhone 5 will be announced at the 2011 Worldwide Developer Conference in early June in San Francisco.
