[lang=en]What started out as a block party organized on Twitter turned into a riot complete with cop car vandalism, arrests, and violence, reports KTLA.

DJ Kaskade, who was scheduled to spin at an event for the premiere of the film "Electric Daisy Carnival Experience," began the afternoon with an invitation over twitter for fans to show up at Grauman's Chinese Theater. Kaskade also mused, "Let's see if the magic of social networking will work today."
KTLA notes that the premiere and after-party at nearby Hollywood club Supperclub were meant to be invitation-only. But as the crowds grew to the thousands and spilled onto the streets, the Los Angeles Police Department brought out riot gear to start dispersing the crowd, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

LA Weekly's Dennis J. Romero, tweeting from the scene, began updating at around 8 p.m. about a "raver standoff" between police and fans who had gathered near Grauman's Chinese Theater. About one hour later, he confirmed that at least three had been arrested, but the police were letting two go free.
Supperclub tweeted a message to fans, saying "For the safety of our community, DO NOT COME TO SUPPERCLUB tonight. We are grateful for everyone for helping to make this an AWESOME night!"
And while at first Kaskade seemed to encourage the crowd with messages like "The man trying to shut us down. Hang on I am coming!!! This is crazy," the DJ ended the night on a more somber note. "EVERYONE CHILL NOW!!! The block party has officially been shut down!" and "EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO HOME NOW! I DON'T WANT THIS TO REFLECT BADLY ON EDM OR WHAT WE ARE ABOUT. BE RESPECTFUL AND CHILL OUT!!!" were the DJ's final tweets.
At around 9 p.m., Metro Los Angeles tweeted that the Hollywood and Highland metro station was closed and Hollywood Boulevard buses were detouring due to a "civil disturbance." Less than an hour later, Metro Los Angeles updated that the station had been re-opened and that normal bus lines would soon resume.
